Falmouth Parish Church of King Charles the Martyr - Cornwall

4th Falmouth Scouts, Cubs and Beavers
We get involved in lots of great adventures and activities – exhibitions, hiking, international evenings when we join up with young people in other countries, water evenings (when everyone gets very wet!), family barbecues and camping. We love camping and have our own campsite where we cook over open fires.
Alison George - Cub Scout Leader, 4th Falmouth (Parish Church) Scouts.
The 4th Falmouth Scout group, with links to the Parish Church has been active continuously since 1950, but is even older than that having originally begun in 1921. There was a break when the group was disbanded at the start of World War II.
Who can join Scouts?
Because the group is connected to the church, religious belief is an important part of the way we approach Scout activities. But your family does not have to be a part of our congregation, or even Christian, to join us.

The Scouting movement welcomes young people of all faiths.

You don’t have to live in Falmouth to join us, we have members from Penryn, Mabe, Mawnan and Flushing at the moment.

Beaver members are girls and boys aged 6-8.

Cub members are girls and boys aged 8-10.5.

Scouts are girls and boys aged 10.5-14.

We also now have an "Explorer" unit, catering for boys and girls up to the age of 18, after which they may join us as leaders or move on to the Falmouth "Network" unit.
When do they meet?
During term time, on Thursdays in the Church Hall in New Street:

Beavers meet from 4.30-6pm.

Cubs meet from 6-8pm.

Scouts meet from 6-8pm.
Explorers meet 6-8pm

The three sections often join together for shared activities too.
Do you need helpers?
Yes. Regular helpers will need to fulfill a CRB check and some roles may require further training, but we welcome as much or as little time as you feel able to give.
Who do I contact?
Whatever your interest – in becoming a Beaver, Cub or Scout, or in helping out - the best way to make contact with us is to come along to the Church Hall on a Thursday evening.
