Falmouth Parish Church of King Charles the Martyr - Cornwall

Guides and Brownies
Being Guides or Brownies gives girls a sense of self worth and responsibility. They learn to work with each other. It equips them for life. It’s safe – and fun.
Letitia Rivett-Old, Brownie Leader.
The Guides movement became 100 years old in 2010. We are proud that there have been Guides with links to our church for 90 years – quite an achievement. We celebrated with a birthday party at the church and by meeting 100 challenges.
Who can join?
Brownies are for girls aged 7-10. Guides are for girls aged 10-14.
When do they meet?
On Tuesday every week at the Church Hall, in New Street, Falmouth.

Brownies meet from 5.30 to 7.

Guides meet from 7 to 8.30.
What do they do?
Both groups get involved in lots of activities appropriate for their ages. Recently these have included sleep-overs in the church hall, going to the pantomime, planting bulbs, entering a local flower show, going on nature trails, making sweets and biscuits, dressing up to experience what it was like in the 1970’s, going camping, going to the beach, and – for the older girls - having an adventure holiday weekend.
Do I have to attend church to join?
Must I live in Falmouth to join?
Can I start at once?
The groups are very popular and there are waiting lists for new members.
Can I be a helper?
Help from parents and other family members of both sexes, is very welcome. If you are a woman who would like to become a Leader we can arrange training and CRB checks.
